Even if you are already rocking the internet marketing world, I would always advise joining a solid network marketing company as this could give you a  substantial additional income stream and something extra to offer your prospects.

When looking at potential network marketing companies, it is important to find something that sits right with YOU.  You have to be entirely comfortable with what you are promoting and also comfortable in offering the company as a business opportunity.

Here are some important things to consider…

Integrity

Does the company have integrity or is it just based on hype?  What are the credientials of the founders?  As well as the start up costs and compensation plan, these are important factors to consider when choosing a primary business.

Perhaps equally importantly, you need to ask yourself if by promoting the company you are going to be maintaining your own integrity?  A few questions you should be asking yourself…

1.  Would I buy the product even if I wasn’t getting paid?

2.  Do people want or need more of the product?

3.  Would you feel comfortable promoting to someone in financial difficulties?

4.  Is the product recession proof?

Training and Support

You should find out about the training provided.  It should be free.  Do they support and train you in online methods as well as offline? And it can be a lonely business working from home so think about whether there will be ongoing group support.  It is important to feel part of a community.

Leadership

Do you have access to great leadership?  This is essential if you are to succeed.  Who is the top earner?  Do you have access to their strategies and training?

Why I Chose My Primary Business

I wanted a business that I could promote online as I was struggling with the traditional offline methods of network marketing.  I found that my company was the best suited for online marketing and the training both online and offline was second to none.

I joined a successful leader within my company and now receive training from the world’s top Internet Marketers.  I have access to the company’s top earner’s training and strategies. We have a vibrant online community which provides a ridiculous amount of ongoing support and training.

There so many other reasons why I joined my company (eg. compensation plan, bonuses, incentives) but the main one was that it felt right for me.  I had to go with my gut and to me, joining my company just made sense.

What are you looking for in your primary business?  I’d love to hear your thoughts…

You may well have a marketing budget but do you have a training budget too?  If you are just spending all of your budget on Facebook PPC but haven’t learned how to create great ads, target groups properly, you could end up blowing your whole budget and being none the wiser as to how the whole thing works.

Another scenario might be that you run a successful PPC campaign and generate lots of leads but then end up wasting those leads as you don’t know how to communicate with them properly.

The basic principle of attraction marketing is to position yourself as a leader and add value to your prospects and your team.  Training = knowledge.

So investing in yourself, your own personal development and your own training is the only way you will be able to acquire the skills and knowledge you need to make a career online and build your online business.  If you develop and harness the skills that will lead you to success then you will be in a stronger position as a leader as you will have these developed skills, can pass them onto your team and they can duplicate your success.

Besides, things change so fast in the internet world and as a leader you absolutely must keep up with any new developments.

You need to be asking, ‘What do I need to know in order to make more income?’

The fundamental things you need to know are:

1.  How to get more leads
2. How to communicate effectively with your leads

If you master these two things then you will basically have everything you need to be a success.

So what if the budget is tight?

For many, the budget is tight but there are is lots of quality free training available all over the internet to be taken advantage of.

If money really is an issue, it is a good idea to focus on learning inexpensive lead generation strategies as Facebook or Twitter.  This way you will have more money available to invest in regular training.  But most importantly, you will be in a greater position of authority for your team and prospects.

So if you are serious about succeeding, you really have to commit to training yourself and positioning yourself as an expert in your chosen strategy.

And I’ve been there and made the mistakes so you don’t have to!

I could have the made a list way bigger than just 3 mistakes but these are the ones that are really at the forefront of my mind today.

So here goes…

1.  And this one is HUGE…. Thinking that people will be interested in your opportunity

This is something that I see all the time (and something that I have done myself when I started out) particularly on Facebook.

You need to understand that people don’t care about your MLM or your opportunity.   Spamming your wall or even worse, the walls of other people and groups will not get you noticed for the right reasons.   You are just going to annoy people!

Social media marketing and in particular Facebook marketing can grow your business beyond recognition but it has to be DONE RIGHT!  You have to position yourself in such a way that you are leading with value.

2.  Getting distracted from your primary goal

So obvious but also a big problem if you are working on the internet – the internet is HUGE!   Getting distracted on the internet is easy so you have to have FOCUS…

What is your primary goal?… To get more leads of course!   This is absolutely key along with leading with value -  two things you should always keep in your mind when working.

3.  Pretending to be something you are not

I talked about leading with value and you may have also learned that you need to position yourself as a leader.

Many come from the ‘fake it ’til you make it’ school of thought but you have to be VERY careful with this approach.  If you are making outrageous claims about your earnings, lead generation and it is all a load of rubbish, you are subconsciously sabotaging your business as you are not congruent.

Being incongruent means that you are in conflict with yourself.  You have said something that is not true and so you are fearful that you will get found out and it is this fear of being found out as a fraud that will sabotage your business.

Instead, focus on what you do know and what genuine value you can give.  Very often, it is not how much you know but what you do with that knowledge.  Believe in yourself and you can guarantee that what you offer is of value to at least one person.

Success is a formula and you absolutely CAN learn how to be successful by mirroring the behaviours of those who are where YOU want to be.

This, for me,  is the importance of having a mentor and in my opinion essential if you are to become truly successful.  You absolutely need someone experienced who will advise you, guide you and share their valuable experience with you.

So here is my top 5 habits of successful marketers….

1.  Exercise

Exercise makes us feel good and helps us focus.  This is a fact and is a must if you are going to be more productive and focused.  Find what works for you, walking, yoga, whatever works for YOU and do it EVERY day.

2.  Have a schedule and daily routine and stick to it

Figure out when you can schedule in work time.  I would love to do my work first thing in the morning as that is when I am most productive but I am two small kids so for me, I work at night once they are in bed.

Be disciplined and turn off distractions like your phone, facebook etc.  Guard this time fiercely!

Before starting or opening anything, write down what you need to achieve and in the set amount of time.  For example if you are blogging, your routine might look like this: SEO check (15 mins) blog post (30 mins), share to facebook, twitter, networked blogs, tribe pro etc.(15mins)

Sometimes, like this week, my kids were poorly and so I couldn’t work when I had scheduled.  I had to work round this and so I am making up lost time this morning while my daughter is in nursery and the baby is sleeping.  Life happens but you have to deal with it and adapt.  When you work for yourself, there is no one to answer to but your results!

2.  Positivity

NEVER COMPLAIN!!!  Successful people surround themselves with positivity and have no time for complainers or drama.   Train your mind to focus on the positive.   Become a student of personal development.  Read about the law of attraction and be grateful and happy for what you have got.  An attitude of gratitude will set you up for more good things to flow into your life.

3.  Invest in Marketing and Training. 

If you are not prepared to invest in training then you have to ask yourself the reason why.  Is it because you think you are going to fail and your money will be wasted?  If this is how you are thinking you will might as well give up now.  Tough but true I’m afraid!

The highest earners ALL invest in training and marketing strategies.

Now I would NEVER advise anyone to spend more than they have and if you are on a budget, then I would recommend taking advantage of  free training that is available to get you started.

5. Let Your Tools do the Hard Work

Automate your business.  Let Aweber,  MLSP and Numis do the hard work while you can concentrate on other areas of your business.

So if you want more success, have a think…  Are there are any negative habits holding you back?  Negatative habits will drain your energy and drive so replace them with positive habits from the list above and I GUARANTEE good things will start to happen!
